Resume and Additional Qualifications.

If you want to improve your relationships, or the mental health of your family, or to deal with particular private issues, I may be able to help you. I will listen actively and with compassion and respect to your unique story as a Counselor and Licensed Psychotherapist, a Mental Health Professional. Drawing on my background in Early Child Development, Crisis Counseling, Domestic Violence intervention, Education, the Military, Gerontology and Adolescence, my goal is to help you deepen your understanding and improve your ability to cope.

As a Parental Responsibilities Evaluator or PRE (such as when families have complications due to mental health issues), a Child and Family Investigator or CFI, or a Family Arbitrator I can help families involved in custody or parenting disputes that are before the Courts. I thoroughly investigate issues in light of the child(ren)'s needs and development, and develop a report according to the Court requirements and agreements, and make recommendations on what may be in the child(ren)'s best interests.

If there is high conflict in families who have already filed a parenting plan, as a Parenting Coordinator/Decision Maker, I help parents work together for the benefit of their child(ren) in implementing that plan.

On occasion, a Court orders that parents' visits with their child(ren) be supervised. I am able to provide therapeutic supervised visitations to help each child have a healthy relationship with his or her parent.

Also, I offer parenting classes (Active Parenting), co-parenting classes and support groups for Grandparents and Foster Parents.

For more discussion, please follow the links on the left, or contact me. Details about my education, experience and current training are listed on my Resume and Additional Qualifications.

My particular areas of caring or expertise:

  • Early child development
  • Adolescence
  • Military families and Veterans
  • Households where conflict has escalated to domestic violence
  • Families headed by grandparents
  • Teens who are parents
  • Families with teenagers at home
  • Families coping with disabilities and/or medical problems
  • Homelessness
  • GLBTQ families

Here are links to some articles I have published for families
  • Children and Parents with PTSD and TBI
  • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
(These articles are available in The Pikes Peak Lawyer.)
  • Computer Art, from Speak Out!, a publication of Peak Parent Center, an agency which provides training, information and technical assistance to equip families of children from birth through age twenty-six years who have disabilities.

As a former Legal Assistant/Office Manager in a family law firm, I have an understanding of Court processes for settling issues around children's best interests, parent's rights and responsibilities, and the ordeals families in conflict go through.
